Any memorial to the events of September 11, 2001 should be considered a memorial to the folly of expecting our elected officials to do whatever is necessary to protect Americans from those who seek to enter our country and attempt to damage or destroy our way of life. The reason the attacks occurred remains unaddressed, as Muslims and their beliefs rapidly permeate our government and ultimately shift public policy away from what this country used to represent.

Anyone who might disagree ought to visit Dearborn Michigan, and then consider what is going on in New York City.

OK, after Patrick’s response to me, the second paragraph does indeed say: “… at the airport from which two of the four hijacked planes departed.”

That’s exactly what I meant. You have to read very carefully to get that the memorial is at Logan, and I did get it on the second reading.

I’m not saying that the location isn’t indicated in the piece, only that it requires very attentive reading and a small amount of cognition.

Glad to hear of something being done right. I will have to check it out should I get to Logan again (I’ve done the ferry ride from airport to waterfront and loved it). Possibly this memorial was in part inspired by Maya Lin’s vietnam veterans memorial on the national mall, similarly understated but just gets more and powerful the deeper you walk into it, found myself almost overcome with emotion.

Maybe it’s just a trick of the angle in that picture, but the first thing that came to mind when I saw the slabs was the monolith from “2001”.

The domestic terrorist attack that took place in Oklahoma City has a memorial that is truly worth visiting if you ever find yourself in OKC.

9/11 coverage by bloggers and the like is a fading cottage industry, as one might expect.

Anyway, if Patrick doesn’t like it, it must be wrong.
