October 17, 2026.   Lufthansa Retro.

Retro liveries are dime a dozen these days, but this Lufthansa scheme, seen here on a 747-8 in Boston, is possibly my favorite. It showcases the carrier’s 1970s-era paint job — one of the finest airline liveries of all time.

Our only complaint is the gray bottom. The original was a beautiful bare-metal silver. The 747-8’s fuselage is aluminum, not composite, just like older 747s, so you’d think the polished silver would’ve been doable. I’m unsure why they chose the gray.
