A sad note to all this is we as a society have yet to address why the 9/11 attacks occurred. Bill O’Reilly once famously opined that the world has a Muslim problem (he was vilified for saying so). I can’t say with any authority that it does. However, the ideology that fueled the attacks has become a major problem in much of the world. Yet we continue to bleat about inclusion, diversity, etc., and the attacks on non-Muslims continue. At some point, airport security will become complacent and another 9/11-style attack will occur.

Interesting analogy between 9/11 and Covid. Let’s see, the “liberal” response to Covid saved millions of lives, the “conservative” response to 9/11 lead to half a million needless deaths. I put the term in quotations marks, because there was nothing liberal or conservative about each response. And at least in the beginning of both crisis, the population overall was supportive of the ongoing approaches. Both situations represented emergencies that required some type of response and in both instances the powers that be overreached. But really the problems with analogies are their simplicity, there are many emergencies that occur every year that require responses and essentially we can just hope for the best and learn for the future.

I have been saying what you point out – that TSA and airport security is a scam, that at least if the plane has US passengers – no terrorist will ever commandeer a plane again. They might be able to cause it to crash, but they WON’T be able to control where/how it crashes.
